Hello guys,

I wish you all a happy new year! Thanks to Tom and the team of sfe who brought us great software for our favourite systems. I am looking forward of further interesting experience with my beloved Solaris for 2016 and many more years. I hope you will enjoy too, and share your experience and wishes! :)

Regards

Vermillion, thank you (:

I wish you all a happy new year!

SFE will continue to provide valuable software packages in 2016 and I believe, the number of packages supported across the various OS distributions will constantly grow.

If all goes well, we'll see QT5 and most likely LibreOffice5. Maybe "darktable" (Photo development) will hit the binary repositories as well. Just to name a few more or less exotic packages.
Two other big projects are first building up a "webstack" which works identical on S11, (S12), OpenIndiana (Hipster) and OmniOS. Some sort of Apache|nginx - php|php-fast-cgi - mysql|postgresql and the 4.x+ or 5.x+ series of node.js .
The other project will be to migrate retired packages from Solaris "Desktop" consolidation to SFE which are still of value to users.
So dear potential maintainers, if you like the idea of SFE, please come and ask how you can start and help growing SFE to your very own advantage.

If you wish to have one or the other package to be added, you need to speak up! Drop me a note, and I'll see if that software can be added to the SFE spec files and the IPS binary repositories here.

If you like to become a blog or doc writer or a maintainer for spec-files, those are highly needed.

Regards,
Thomas
